Meet Nikki: North Carolina-based drummer, hunter, and avid lady angler!
Reel Girls: What type of fishing do you prefer? Saltwater or freshwater? (or both!)
Nikki: “II love the beautiful colors and the exciting sizes of the fish while saltwater fishing, but nothing beats the peace and quiet of a day of bass fishing out in the middle of the country!”
Reel Girls: When did you start fishing and what do you love about it?
Nikki: “My Uncle Stu taught me how to fish when I was a little girl, maybe 4 or 5, in northern Wisconsin. I love that fishing brings an array of emotions – from the calm of the night while waiting for a nibble (simply enjoying the company of those around you), to the excitement of feeling that first bite, to the adrenaline rush of reeling in your catch!”
Reel Girls: What is your go-to/favorite fishing gear set up while out on the water?
Nikki: “When fishing on one of the many ponds on our family’s property, I typically stick with the old reliable Zebco 33 and use a topwater lure such as a popper or frog.”
Reel Girls: What is the most desired species of fish that you want to catch but haven’t yet?
Nikki: “A Houndfish! During a recent fishing trip to Bermuda, I could see the beautiful, multi-colored Houndfish through the clear water, but didn’t have the good fortune to reel one in. I suppose that just means I’ll have to head on back to Bermuda to try again! :)”
Reel Girls: When you’re not fishing, what can we find you doing?
Nikki: “When I’m not out fishing, you can typically find me hitting the weights at the gym, shooting at the local range, or cuddling with my kitten, Greece!”
Reel Girls: Random fact about yourself – GO!
Nikki: “I am the drummer for the largest dueling piano bar in America – PLUS Dueling Piano Bar – located in Raleigh, NC!”
