Meet Mollie: Kentucky based artist, pitbull advocate, and avid angler.
Reel Girls: What type of fishing do you prefer? Saltwater or freshwater? (or both!)
Mollie: “I’d say I prefer fresh water fishing, mostly because I’m not near any salt water. I’ve been deep sea fishing once..I LOVED it. It would be a hard choice to make if I were lucky enough to live by both types of water!”
Reel Girls: When did you start fishing and what do you love about it?
Mollie: “I started to, seriously, fish about 5 years ago. I love the tug. The adrenaline pumps through my whole body when I have a fish on. It’s hard to explain the feeling. It makes me happy and I love that fishing has taught me to be more patient .. it kills me when someone say fishing is boring, it’s not .. you gotta put in the time and be patient!”
Reel Girls: What is your go-to/favorite fishing gear set up while out on the water?
Mollie: “My favorite set ups are my abu Garcia promax 7 ft medium heavy, duckett micromagic 7 ft medium heavy, and my Shakespeare’s micro 4’6 ultra light.”
Reel Girls: What is the most desired species of fish that you want to catch but haven’t yet?
Mollie: “I reallllllly want to catch a peacock bass or a mahi! They are absolutely beautiful!! I’m an artist and I truly appreciate and love looking at a fish and all its beauty!”
Reel Girls: When you’re not fishing, what can we find you doing?
Mollie: “When I’m not fishing, I work full time at Trader Joe’s. I’m one of the in house artist. Everything store has a handful that keep it signed and priced. It’s very enjoyable to be able to create things daily! I also love painting and drawing when I’m trying to relax at home with my pups. I do mandalas, fluidart and tie dying. I also sell my art work. It’s been amazing getting to use my skills to support myself!”
Reel Girls: Random fact about yourself – GO!
Mollie: “I’m a pitbull advocate. I have two of my own. I try to educate people on the bully breeds. They are misunderstood and the owners are the problem .. you teach hate and aggression they aren’t born with it. I’ll do everything I can for these dogs!”
