Meet Alyssa: Alabama based angler, hunter, and lover of all things outdoors!
Reel Girls: What type of fishing do you prefer? Saltwater or freshwater? (or both!)
Alyssa: “Definitely freshwater. I absolutely love bass fishing, bream fishing, bowfishing, and noodling! I haven’t done much saltwater fishing, but I do hope I will in the future!”
Reel Girls: When did you start fishing and what do you love about it?
Alyssa: “I didn’t truly start fishing until I was twenty years old, unless you consider a push-button reel and using a piece of bread for bait is fishing. When I met the man who is now my fiancé, I really experienced fishing for the first time and I have been hooked ever since. I love how peaceful fishing is, and how fun it is to get a bite at the end of your line. Since I started fishing, I have caught two bass over ten pounds, a 30 lb catfish with my bare hands, and too many bream to count!”
Reel Girls: What is your go-to/favorite fishing gear set up while out on the water?
Alyssa: “I use a basic Ugly Stick with a Lews reel! When I am bass fishing, my go-to baits are 6” Red Shad, spinner baits, and crank baits. If I’m bream fishing, I like to wait until the bream are bedding and I ALWAYS use crickets!”
Reel Girls: What is the most desired species of fish that you want to catch but haven’t yet?
Alyssa: “I would absolutely love to catch a red snapper if I had the opportunity to go salt water fishing. I would also love to go Fly Fishing for Trout, and maybe even hook my first Peacock Bass!”
Reel Girls: When you’re not fishing, what can we find you doing?
Alyssa: “If I’m not fishing, I’m in the woods. Cody didn’t just teach me how to fish, he taught me how to hunt, too. I absolutely love deer season, turkey season, and predator control. Besides my outdoor life, I’m a full-time student at Troy University and I work at Wells Fargo.”
Reel Girls: Random fact about yourself – GO!
Alyssa: “I am absolutely terrified of spiders. I may put my hand in a catfish hole and let it bite me, but I’ll cry if I’m within 3 feet of a spider.”
